I didn’t know what to think of these, with no reviews, but how bad could a honey dipper set be? Took the chance, liked the color variety in the photo.When I got them: 1. They were shorter than I expected, but still usable with a medium sized hand. For a larger hand, go for a longer handle, if such an entity exists (all the honey drippers I saw were approx 6 inches long). One would think a little longer would be good; I don’t want honey on my hand when I’m trying to dispense it with the wand!2. They gave me four of the same color and one different. That’s not what the photo shows, not what I thought I was getting. That was disappointing.3. The silicone looks sturdy and well molded; I didn’t find anything to be concerned about there. I think these will hold up well with time, but I guess we’ll see!Why does one household need five of the darn things? Well, I don’t. But I liked this style. At first I was looking for the kind you leave in the jar, a mason lid with a built in dipper. Real honey crystallizes in colder weather (though my house is warm, the honey always knows when it’s winter). I like to be able to nuke it so I can use it, or melt in hot water. That means storing in a glass jar, not the plastic squeeze bottles. But all the wide mouth kinds I found were suspect—metal is not good to leave in honey; it will change the taste over time. Honey is acidic. Metal, even SS, will react if left in there. Not a problem to dip a spoon in, but it is one to leave a spoon or dipper sitting in it during storage.So, I was left with regular mason jar and separate dipper. Spares mean I can use them for things like caramel sauce, too, not just honey! Maple syrup isn’t thick enough for a dipper, but if you use fruit syrups or chocolate syrup or something, this is an option if you’re not a plastic squeeze bottle person. Mainly I liked the idea of having the different colors and spares for various applications, but I was disappointed to get four red and one dull green, instead of more variety. Still, it works! And cleans up nicely.
